Meridian Avenue Baptist Church
sponsored a group of 10 men and women
who traveled to Nicaragua from
July 1 through July 10, 2006.
The purpose of the trip was two-fold.
They would travel to the rural
community of San Jorge where they
would help with the construction of
the community's health clinic and
would also help with work around
the AMOS compound in Managua, the
capital city of Nicaragua.
The community of San Jorge is a
three hour drive from Managua. San
Jorge has no running water or
electricity. But the people of
the community are wonderful host
and a pleasure to visit and work
with.

AMOS is a newly created ministry
headquartered in the capital city
of Managua. AMOS stands for A
Ministry of Sharing and their
purpose is to help rural communities
of Nicaragua develop improved
living conditions.
The work team arrived in San Jorge on the
afternoon of July 2nd and returned to Managua on the afternoon of July
5th. While in the community the team members were the guest of
the community's medical provider, Santiago Mejia. He provided
the work team with his house to sleep in while he stayed at his
sister's home.
AMOS had recently moved into a compound in
Managua that had been vacant for many years. The facility was in
much need of paint and improvement. A men's restroom and shower
had recently been completed but work on the women's facilities was
just beginning. One of the task the work team did was to help
dig a sewer trench for the future women's facilities.
The work team also helped clean the area
within the compound's perimeter and also inventory the many donations
that AMOS had received from donors in the United States.
AMOS needed to have their computer system
wired and programmed for interconnection and the work team was blessed
with people who could do this task. AMOS's recently purchased
truck likewise needed work and the work team had a capable mechanic to
assist with this need. God had provided the exact people needed
to complete the needed work at AMOS. Truly He is amazing.
